Whale, that’s a bummer!
In light of our President’s speech on the evening of 28 December and the return to an adjusted Level 3 lockdown, we unfortunately need to postpone the Whale of Trail scheduled for the 15/16 Jan 2021.
As part of the South African Association of Mountain Endurance Sport (SAAMES), we have ministerial permission to host events under level 1 and 2 lockdown, however this does not extend to level 3.
As per our policy all confirmed entries will now be transferred to the July 2021 or 2022 Whale of Trail event, at no cost to the runners. Details for this procedure will be mailed to runners.
For those that have booked accommodation at De Hoop Collection for mid Jan weekend, please contact Nicola at De Hoop for options surrounding the transfer of your booking to the later race date or to another date. This wonderful place remains open and we encourage you to still make use of your booking then and head to the reserve where the options for social distancing are many and varied.
Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of every competitor as well as all our staff, hosts, volunteers and spectators and our sympathy goes out to all those affected by Coronavirus. We extend our gratitude to all the healthcare workers fighting to contain the pandemic.
Be responsible, stay safe!
